For whatever reason, when YumSugar originally posted her recipe for Cheddar Goldfish/Goldbear crackers (http://teamsugar.com/user/YumSugar/recipes/416673) I missed the post, totally and completely. But today I'm combing the site, as I usually do, the picture pops up on the side bar and I immediately think Drool

So imagine my surprise when I'm looking through my Homemade Food Gifts book and I see a recipe for a Cracker Mix containing Goldfish. And, best of all, it's presented in a goldfish bowl as a present idea! How cute is that?

So for this recipe, you can really add that homemade touch and make your own little goldfish (or goldbear) crackers or you can just buy them at the store. It's more or less a different take on Chex Mix, but either way, what a cute idea and what a great presentation!

Cracker Mix

1 cup bite size fish shape pretzel or cheese-flavored crackers
1 cup oyster crackers
1 cup bite-size rich round crackers
1 cup bite-size shredded wheat biscuits
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Dash bottled hot pepper sauce
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

1. In a large bowl, combine all crackers. In a small bowl, combine oil, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and bottled hot pepper sauce; pour over cracker mixture, tossing to coat. Sprinkle cracker mixture with Parmesan cheese and toss to coat. Spread mixture in a shallow baking pan.

2. Bake in a 300F oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden, stirring once. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. Makes 4 cups cracker mix.

Presentation of Cracker Mix

Goldfish BowlGoldfish Bowl

Cute three different colored squares of decorative paper, each 8x8 inches (or large or small, depending on the size of your fishbowl). Layer the papers with corners staggered. Place papers on top of the filled fishbowl. Tie a generous piece of black leather cord around the neck of the fishbowl to secure the paper. Glue three fish crackers onto each tail of the black cord. Let glue dry.
